Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – HLTAID009

This CPR course covers the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. This course is a half day course and includes theory and practical components. Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is available in both the Mandurah and Port Hedland Training Centres.

Course Outcomes

• Identify, assess and minimise immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
• Assess the casualty and recognise the need for CPR
• Seek assistance from emergency response services
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with ARC guidelines
• Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
• Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer’s instructions
• Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
• Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies

This CPR training program focuses heavily on practical learning. Through hands-on resuscitation skills training, participants practice chest compressions, breathing techniques and emergency response scenarios. By completing the course, you’ll earn a nationally recognised cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate, giving you basic life support certification that can be used for workplace requirements or personal knowledge.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard.
• To ensure safe and competent performance in line with the relevant competency standards, all learners must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English language, literacy, numeracy, and digital capability (LLND).  MSTS is committed to inclusive learning practices and recognises that some learners may require additional support to meet course requirements.

• Provide valid identification.
• A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required for the practical components (e.g. kneel on ground to perform CPR, climb stairs, lifting various items).
