OPERATE AS PART OF AN EMERGENCY CONTROL ORGANISATION

This unit covers the competency required to implement emergency response specified in workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation. People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation. This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010.

• How to respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings
• Initiate and control emergency response
• Anticipate the further development of emergencies
• Assist with post initial response

Who should do this course?

Fire wardens who might deal with emergency situations such as: fire evacuations, bomb threats, gas leaks and adverse weather events.

There are no formal qualifications required to complete this unit of competency.

 

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard.
• To ensure safe and competent performance in line with the relevant competency standards, all learners must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English language, literacy, numeracy, and digital capability (LLND).  MSTS is committed to inclusive learning practices and recognises that some learners may require additional support to meet course requirements.

• Provide valid identification.
• A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required for the practical components (e.g. lift/handle fire extinguishers, climb stairs, use hand tools).
