The MSTS LICENCE TO ERECT ALTER and DISMANTLE SCAFFOLDING BASIC LEVEL, training course is designed to train and equip you to be competent in the full use and operation of scaffolding over 4 metres. With our first class facilities and trainers, MSTS courses are among the best scaffolding courses WA has to offer. A Scaffolding Licence is required for anyone erecting scaffolding over 4 metres. There are three classes of Scaffolding: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Each class must be obtained before moving on to the next. All Scaffolding courses have both theory and practical components. Scaffolding courses are available at both the Mandurah and Port Hedland Training Centres.

This course is for Scaffolding Basic Level.

Scaffolding is a high risk training course, and on successful completion, students are awarded a WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence (SB/SI/SA), as well as a Statement of Attainment.  

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

After successfully completing this course, applicants will be able to:

• Erect bracket scaffolding.
• Assess work required to be completed and plan safely to complete.
• Identify all components and accessories.
• Erect modular scaffold.
• Be aware of acts and regulations covering scaffolding.
• Tying scaffolds.
• Work out dead and live loads.
• Erect mobile and frame scaffolds.
• Understand accesses and ladder requirements.
• Use fibre, FSWR ropes and chains.
• Erect Gin wheels, cantilevered builders hoists and safety nets.
• Correctly use and inspect safety harnesses.
• Erect bracket scaffolding.

There are no formal qualifications required to complete this unit of competency.

 

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard.
• To ensure safe and competent performance in line with the relevant competency standards, all learners must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English language, literacy, numeracy, and digital capability (LLND).  MSTS is committed to inclusive learning practices and recognises that some learners may require additional support to meet course requirements.

• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Provide valid identification as per WorkSafe WA requirements.
• A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required for the practical components (e.g. lift 15kgs, climb ladders, use hand tools).

 

All successful applicants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment: Licence to Erect, Alter & Dismantle Scaffolding Basic Level – CPCCLSF2001. A High Risk Work Licence with SB class will also be issued by Worksafe WA.
