The competencies being addressed in this program are those identified in the unit. As such a successful outcome of this training is the awarding of a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment bearing the Nationally Recognised Training logo. These units are appropriate for those required to be able to plan and prepare, conduct machine pre-operational checks, operate telescopic load handlers, attach, secure, lift, carry and place materials, select, remove and fit attachments, relocate the Telehandler carry out machine operator maintenance and clean up. Job opportunities could arise from civil construction industries and related industries, where employees need to operate a Telehandler.

• Conduct pre start and operational checks.
• Be able to assess work required to be completed and plan safely to complete.
• Understand legislative requirements

Operate the Telehandler within its capacities and:

• Recognize danger areas and hazard control/awareness
• Pick up and place loads
• Travel loads correctly
• Use load charts
• Be aware of centre of gravity of loads and stability • General operational and driving skills • Stacking loads at Heights • Safety shut down and parking

Please Note: This course is available on the public schedule at our Port Hedland training facility.

The telehandler course is also available for private/group bookings. Training is usually delivered at your site, though MSTS can arrange a venue and equipment if required.

There are no formal qualifications required to complete this unit of competency.

 

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard.
• To ensure safe and competent performance in line with the relevant competency standards, all learners must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English language, literacy, numeracy, and digital capability (LLND).  MSTS is committed to inclusive learning practices and recognises that some learners may require additional support to meet course requirements.

• Provide valid identification.
• A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required for the practical components (e.g. lift 15kgs, climb ladders, use hand tools).
